Revolutionary Trees

Fueling the American Independence Movement

Trees have played a critical role in the development of our great nation, from providing building materials, to sparking America's lumber industry, and standing as a symbol of patriotism during the American Revolution.

To celebrate our nation's upcoming Independence Day, Arboretum Naturalist Bob Chicken will lead visitors on a free guided history walk to several integral tree species that not only “fueled” the Revolutionary War, but also served as a rallying call to the people's liberty and independence.

There will be two free guided walks held, one at 9:30am and one at 11:00am. Both walks are 45 minutes to 1 hour long and will cover the same trees and same historical content. Space is limited to 20 visitors per walk so please register early!
