Understanding the Financials of Your Nonprofit Organization

‘What do all those financial numbers mean?’ The members of a nonprofit board are responsible for the financial condition of the organization.

Presented by SCORE and The Pokagon Fund, this workshop will help nonprofit board members understand what financial information they should be given, what that information means, and what financial events serve as “red flags” that warrant further investigation.  You’ll also learn how to compare your organizations financial performance with that of other nonprofits.

Lately there has been a lot of news about people embezzling money from the organization they are work for.  In this workshop, you’ll learn procedures to be used to ensure that the organization’s funds are being properly handled. This workshop is being presented by Kenneth W. Huff, whose 45 year career in not-for-profit organizations witnessed two CEOs going to Federal prison.

Ken earned his BBA in Business in 1968 and his MBA in Finance in 1976, at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.  In addition to SCORE, Ken serves on the Board of Directors of the Bridgman Public Library.

Nonprofit board members, as well as senior staff and key volunteers will want to attend this workshop to understand 'what all those number mean'.
