LIVESTRONG® Family Fun Run and Walk

IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION:

The LIVESTRONG® Family Fun Run and Walk is back for its 3rd year at the Rochester Area Family YMCA.  This event brings the community together to celebrate those who are living beyond cancer diagnosis and to remember those lost to cancer.

• OPENING CEREMONY: The event begins with a National Color Guard and special ceremony celebrating those who live beyond cancer diagnosis and remembering those lost to cancer.
• RUN, WALK, bring a stroller or wheelchair and be part of this fun event for all!  
• ROUTES are in distances of 1 mile and  5k.  Registration fee is the same for both.
• REGISTRATION is now open for individuals and families, just hit the Register Now button.  Registration will be accepted until 12:30pm the day of the event.
• EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: Register by September 15th and save! 
• T-SHIRTS:  All who are registered by our Early Bird deadline will be guaranteed a race day t-shirt!  Registrations after September 15th will include a t-shirt only on a first come - first served basis the day of the race.  
• COSTUMES are encouraged but not required.  Prizes will be awarded for best costumes as determined by popular vote!
• CELEBRATION: Family-friendly games and activities, including Inflatables and music, will take place immediately following the run/walk.
• RAIN OR SHINE:  No refunds will be given, as this event is a fundraiser for the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program.

What is LIVESTRONG®?

The Y and the LIVESTRONG® Foundation joined together to create LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals.  The nationally-acclaimed, research-based program offers adults diagnosed with cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on holistic health.  Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem.  In addition to physical benefits, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people impacted by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond.  By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA helps people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.  

Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit future LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA sessions.  Each LIVESTRONG® session costs $3,500.  These funds will provide resources to serve a greater number of individuals living beyond cancer diagnosis.

LIVESTRONG® Family Fun Run/Walk 2017 Waiver and Release

In consideration of being permitted to utilize the facilities, services and programs of the Rochester Area Family YMCA (“YMCA”) for any purpose including, but not limited to, observation or use of facilities and equipment and participation in any program or event affiliated with the YMCA without respect to location, I, on behalf of myself and any children, dependents or personal representatives, hereby: 1. Acknowledge that I have (a) read this release and waiver of liability; and (b) voluntarily sign this release and waiver of liability. 2. Release the YMCA, its directors, officers, employees, agents and volunteers (collectively “YMCA Releasees”) and the City of Rochester, its directors, officers, employees, agents and volunteers (collectively “City of Rochester Releasees”) from all liability to me for any loss or damage to property or injury or death to person, whether caused by the ordinary negligence of the YMCA Releasees and City of Rochester Releasees or any other person, and while I am in, upon or about any YMCA branch or any facilities or equipment therein or participating in any program or event affiliated with the YMCA. 3. Agree not to sue the YMCA Releasees or City of Rochester Releasees for any loss, liability, damage, injury or death described above and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the YMCA Releasees and City of Rochester Releasees and each of them from any loss, damage or cost they may incur due to my presence in, upon or about any YMCA branch or any facilities or equipment therein or my participation in any program or event affiliated with the YMCA whether caused by the ordinary negligence of the YMCA Releasees, City of Rochester Releasees or by any other person. I assume full responsibility for the risk of such loss, liability, damage, injury or death. I intend for this release and waiver of liability to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the laws of the State of Minnesota. If any portion hereof is held invalid, I agree that the balance shall continue in full force and effect.

I grant permission to the Rochester Area Family YMCA to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
