Bringing Family Engagement to Action

Description:

Participants of this workshop will appreciate the importance of Family Engagementas a key process in child and youth mental health, as well as develop consistentterminology around family engagement. They will also gain an understanding of familycentred approaches to care, explore barriers and facilitators to family engagement andunderstand the implementation road map to sustainable family engagement.

Biography:

Sarah Cannon is the Executive Director of Parents for Children’s Mental Health.PCMH is the only provincial charitable organization representing the voice offamilies raising children and youth with mental illnesses. Sarah has co-developedthe Provincial Family Engagement Training Curriculum and has presented thecurriculum to community-based mental health agencies across the Province. Sarahalso co-developed the Family Support Provider Program in partnership with theMinistry of Child and Youth Services and Kinark Child and Family Services. Thisprogram continues to be implemented across the Province. Sarah is seen as a leaderand a content expert in family engagement in child and youth mental health. Overthe years, Sarah has appeared and been featured in many publications and in themedia raising awareness about mental illness and the challenges children, youthand families face. Sarah has been featured in Canada AM, The Agenda with StevePaikin, Today’s Parents, Readers Digest and MacLeans, to name a few. For her workin Child and Youth Mental Health Advocacy, Sarah has been awarded the For Kid’sSake Award by Today’s Parent, The President’s Award by Kinark Family and ChildrenServices, and most recently, the Woman of Distinction Award by the YWCA.

The 2016-2017 CPRI Professional Education workshops are expected to fill quickly and many sell out.  Register early to avoid disappointment.  Pre-registration with payment is required to secure a space.
