Christine McAndrew

2017 Alumni Association Physician Assistant Alumna of the Year

Christine McAndrew, Physician Assistant, works alongside the chair of the department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She assists Dr. Scott Levin with his patient load of 45 to 60 patients a day, and she sees her own 15 to 28 patients a day during her own clinic hours.  She also supervises 34 advanced practitioners within her department. McAndrew serves as the hand transplant coordinator for the adult and pediatric hand transplant programs at Penn and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). In July 2015 she was an integral part of the Penn Medicine/CHOP team that trained together for eighteen months and then performed the world’s first pediatric bilateral hand transplant on eight-year-old Zion Harvey.
