SUMMERLAND, BC - Please join the BC Wine Institute, DJ Kearney and 21 internationally and nationally acclaimed wine critics for a BC sparkling wine reception as we reveal the results of the 3rd annual Judgment of BC, a monumental tasting for the Wines of British Columbia benchmarking BC Wine on the international stage. 

Inspired by the legendary Judgment of Paris in 1976, as famously depicted in the Hollywood blockbuster "Bottle Shock," the inaugural Judgment of BC, hosted in 2015 by the BC Wine Institute in honour of Steven Spurrier's visit to British Columbia, has become a pivotal event for the BC Wine Industry. 

This years' 3rd annual Judgment of BC will bring together 21 top sommeliers, wine writers and judges from the UK, USA and BC, including acclaimed UK wine writer Richard Hemming MW and three other Master of Wines (regarded as the highest professional qualification in the wine industry), in a blind tasting of BC's most widely planted grapes, Merlot and Pinot Gris against acknowledged global benchmarks.

The goal of this event is to honestly assess the current state of grapegrowing and winemaking in BC to provide a clear perspective of the distinct characteristics of British Columbia wine in relation to global standards, and to achieve a focused vision for the continued evolution of the BC Wine Industry.
