This seminar will provide a comprehensive study of the movement of the spine in various disease states giving the instructor a broader base of knowledge in developing a session plan.  Which traditional exercises work and when to modify.  Learn some tools to help educate your client on achieving a pain free practice.  (3 credits)

12:30am-2:30pm: "Its A Matter of "Principles" with David Freeman

As Instructors, it is imperative that we teach to the 6 Principles of Pilates. But how often do we plan a program for our clients with these 6 principles in mind? Are we going to work on Flow and Precision today? Or will it be Breathing and Concentration? Certainly, we cannot expect a beginner or for that matter an intermediate to grasp all 6 Principles at once. Which of the principles should we emphasize and when? Are there certain exercises that warrant more Flow than Precision? More Concentration than Breathing? Which Principles will accomplish the primary goal of the exercise? This Seminar examines the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Systems with an eye towards the 6 Principles and their application. The Seminar will be interactive with the seminar participants interacting with the Seminar Provider. (2 credits)

3pm-5pm: "Sports Specific Training Pilates Style" with Jen O'Mara

Working with professional, amateur and recreational athletes has been a major focus for Jennifer over the past 16 years. This workshop will focus on using the classic principles of Pilates to enhance performance and reduce the incidence of injury. Techniques will be given to address fast and slow twitch muscle fiber recruitment and how that applies to different sports and activities. (3 credits)

This Continuing Education Seminar will qualify as Continuing Education for The New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification Program. Attendance will qualify as credits towards Continuing Education Requirements as listed below:
