The Complexities of FASD—Working Towards Successful Outcomes

Biography Dan Dubovsky, M.S.W., Fetal Spectrum Disorder Specialist

Dan has worked for over 40 years in the field of behavioral health and has been involved in the field of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) for over 20 years. He has presented nationally and internationally on FASD focusing on interventions and prevention for children, adolescents and adults.  For this work, his son Bill, who was diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome at age 19, has been his mentor and best teacher. 

Dan was the FASD Specialist for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) FASD Center for Excellence in the U.S.  He currently works as a consultant, providing training and technical assistance to agencies, communities, states, grant programs, and provinces.  Dan has a keen interest in improving outcomes for individuals, families, and the providers and services that support them.

Topics to be addressed: 

  • A brief update about  Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
  • FASD and mental health
  • Multi-generational considerations
  • The importance of identifying FASD
  • Implementing a positive focused system of care
  • Strategies for improving outcomes in various settings (home, school, mental health and substance use treatment centres, corrections, child welfare, housing and employment)

 Limited Subsidies

**Parents, Caregivers & Family Members of persons living with a FASD you can apply for a full subsidy to attend (see the registration page to apply for this, we will contact you if you are successful)

Register & Pay as soon as possible 

  • $90 registration for Professionals
  • $50 registration for Parents, Caregivers & Family Members, or those wtih a FASD**
  • $50 registration for Students:  Limited student spaces available

Included in your fees:  Continental Breakfast, Lunch & Refreshments

As of Wednesday, September 13th we are not able to accommodate allergies or food intolerances. The lunch is buffet style.
