Miniatures, Myths, and Meaning in Sandtray Play Therapy - Beginner

Description:

This training explores the acquisition and therapeutic use of Sandplay play therapy miniature collection in clinical practice.  Practical issues of acquiring, organizing and tending a collection will be addressed and the theme of miniature in myth and fairytale will be examined in order to elucidate the compelling nature and potency of the various miniature symbols.  Child and adult Sandplay Play Therapy case material highlighting personal, clinical and archetypal levels of symbolism will be presented.   

This workshop is designed for:

Social workers (LCSW, LMSW, LISW, BSW, AAW), psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) school counselors, school psychologist, professional counselors (LMHC, LCMHC, CMHC, LPC, LCPC), marriage and family therapists (LMFT, LIMFT) art therapists, play therapists, occupational therapists, graduate students, and others in the mental health-related field.  This is a beginner level seminar which means that no previous experience is needed in order to participate.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to…

• Recall the categories of figures that should be included in a basic sandplay play therapy collection
• Describe the four primary archetype ad how they appear in Sandplay play therapy case material
• Define “symbol” and the benefit of using symbols in sandplay play therapy process
• Demonstrate how to apply process for identifying the archetypes and symbolism of adults using the examples of sandtrays of children
• Demonstrate how to apply process for identifying the archetypes and symbolism of children using the examples of santrays of children
• Describe the process for processing the sandtray with clients in play therapy

Betty Jackson LSW, CST-T

Betty Jackson is an LSW (licensed social worker) in PA, an LGSW in MD, a CST-T (Certified Sandplay Therapist - Teacher through Sandplay Therapists of America), and a national and international presenter with over 35 years of experience in school, mental health agency, and private practice settings. Ms. Jackson works as a child & family therapist for Upper Bay Counseling & Support Services in Maryland and maintains a private practice in Christiana, PA.

Cancellation Policy:

     Written cancellation must be received in our office at least ten working days prior to the training. A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Otherwise, a voucher will be given. Change of Instructors:

CE Certificates:

     After completion of the workshop, participants who have provided payment, indicated attendance via signature & initials on the sign-in sheet that is provided at the workshop, and have completed an evaluation of the course will be given a CE certificate via hard-copy which will be presented at the close of the workshop upon completion of the course evaluation.  A sign-in/sign-out sheet will be provided at the workshop.  In order to receive credit, all participants must indicate attendance by both signing in and out.
