NOTE: For private in-house training purposes, we might be recording parts of your workshop so that this can be used to help train other instructors.

Although backs of students' heads might appear as part of segments of videos shared publicly, we will NOT share publicly faces of your child(ren)'s or your faces without your permission. A MEDIA RELEASE WAIVER will be sent in the registration confirmation email in case this is okay with you.  Even with permission, we will not share publicly last names of students, their location, or any personal information.

"My kids loved the self-defense practice with the padded instructor - and I have more peace of mind!"

Families with older kids practice “People Safety” skills to prevent problems and improve communication with peers, family, strangers, and others -- at home, at school, and in public.  People Safety skills help kids enjoy activities and outings of all kinds with safety and confidence.  In this class, kids will also practice physical self-defense skills for emergencies, using their ‘full force’ with a padded instructor.

Using examples and activities relevant to kids 6-12, we’ll practice skills to:

  • Show awareness and confidence
  • Move away from possible problems
  • Build effective Stranger Safety habits
  • Use voice as a safety tool
  • Set clear boundaries
  • Deal with bullying
  • “Tell” without “tattling”
  • Take the power out of mean words
  • Make safety plans with family & friends
  • Get help from busy adults -- and persist!
  • Find your family or group if you get separated in public
  • Use physical self-defense skills in an emergency: with step-by- step coaching, kids will practice using their full force safely and effectively with a padded instructor.

Workshop Fee: $140/child (includes accompanying adults with that child)
Pre-registration is required as there is limited space.

This workshop is not appropriate for infants or children younger than 6 years old.
Please arrange child care prior to the workshop.

Donations over the amount of workshop fees are tax-deductible. We do not turn anyone away from our public workshops for lack of money. Scholarship information is available on our website.
