In my professional career I have about 2 years of experience in the furniture world, and 2 years of experience at a commercial architecture firm. Both experiences were valuable when it came to taking the NCIDQ. I took the NCIDQ in two parts – IDFX first in the spring of 2016, and the IDPX and Practicum in the Fall of 2016. I knew I wanted to split it up rather than taking everything together to make it easier to focus my studies. I passed all sections on the first try, and I largely credit the IIDA QPrep course for my passing the Practicum portion of the exam.
I recently took and passed the NCIDQ; I studied for a while completing a fair few PRACs, creating flash cards, and reading a lot of study material. I took all three sections in one go, and my biggest piece of advice is to pace yourself. The exam is a lot of time management and it is easy to be overwhelmed.
