About the Workshop:
Improving Your Supervisory IQ:  From Selection to Evaluation

This seminar is designed to address the theoretical and practical aspects of management, supervision, and leadership and is structured for new and seasoned professionals.  Participants will review, reflect and discuss common challenges and successes in staff selection, staff evaluation, and staff development, including a direct discussion of hiring, training and separation.

We will address leadership styles, supervision plans, methods of staff evaluation, conducting staff meetings and developing proactive administrative and management policies and procedures.

 

About the Presenter:
Trent Ball

Trent Ball currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Retention at Southeast Missouri State University and provides leadership and management of the Academic Support  Centers (ASCs). Mr. Ball is the current Board Chair for the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE). The Council is a national advocacy association dedicated to furthering the expansion of college opportunities for low-income, first-generation students, veterans, and students with disabilities throughout the United States. Currently, Mr. Ball serves on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri’s Education and Employment Council, the UNCF, Inc. St. Louis Leadership Advisory Council, The Board of Directors for Gene Slay’s Girls and Boys Club and as the TRIO and other Educational Opportunity Programs Representative to the CAS Standards Board of Directors.  Mr. Ball is working with St. Louis Graduates and the St. Louis Regional Chamber on their newly funded Lumina Foundation projects. Mr. Ball has written successful grants for state and federal programs as well as non-profit and community based organizations.  He has presented numerous programs at the local, state, regional and national level, is a senior consultant and co-owner/operator of LEAD Consulting and Training and has 20 years of professional experience working in Higher Education.
