ISSA Oklahoma Student Chapter Training Event 

 

Summary:

This class will be an introduction in using Nmap on production network, with an emphasis of scanning targets both on a small and large scale, to determine what exists on a network.  All commands will be run at a unix command line.

  • Legal Warnings
  • Basic Ping Sweeps
  • Basic Port scanning of hosts
  • Basic Host enumeration
  • Vulnerability scanning
  • Basic scripting of nmap scans

Requirements:

  • Laptop with charged battery (electrical power will be at a premium in location)
  • Installed version of nmap (or a live Kali Linux CD/USB with nmap)
  • Wireless card capable of conneting to standard WPA wireless

Goals:

By the end of the training event, all participants should be comfortable to run a list of basic commands on a network, and understand what the results tell them about their network.
