Event Summary

As a committed community leader, you are invited to join us for Greater Green Bay 2017: Envisioning the Future! This event is a follow-up to the Vision 20/20 Summit held in February 2012.

The Bay Area Community Council will host the conference to facilitate community conversations and activation. We anticipate over 200 people will attend and engage to develop, understand, and share mutually-held perceptions, ideas, goals, and priorities for the community. Discussions will be based on the 2016 LIFE Study: Leading Indicators for Excellence - a quality of life assessment for Brown County commissioned by Brown County United Way, Greater Green Bay Chamber, and Greater Green Bay Community Foundation.

A successful event will require thought leaders from all sectors and backgrounds to spend time with each other and with relevant community data to inform discussions and develop strategies to address current and future needs of our community. The conference's most important work will be done when attendees break into small groups. Group discussions will focus on six areas of opportunity identified in the LIFE Study: local economy, poverty, civic participation, diversity and inclusion, wellness and health, and education. Driving forces in these areas include changes in society, technology, economics, the environment, politics, and demographics. Results will be reported following the conference; we expect conversations and workshops will flow from the findings in each of the six areas.

Keynote Speaker Profile

Since envisioning requires looking ahead, we have enlisted the services of New York-based futurist Garry Golden as keynote speaker. His focus is defining issues shaping business and society in the 21st Century. He has worked with firms such as Alliant Energy, Disney, Goodyear Tire, Hartford Insurance Group, Microsoft, and Verizon. He has also helped nonprofits including museums, libraries, orchestras, and performing arts centers.
