Dave is a partner with Loring, Sternberg & Associates and is a member of the faculty at The Center on Philanthrophy at Indiana University's Fund Raising School and a Governance Consultant for BoardSource. He is the only person in America to hold a position with both organizations.

Dave teaches Developing Annual Sustainability, Principles and Techniques of Fundraising, and Developing Major Gifts at the Fund Raising School and also offers numerous customized training programs nationwide. In 1996, he founded Loring, Sternberg & Associates to provide fundraising counsel to educational foundations, social service organizations, higher education, membership organizations, children's groups, and museums.

He is the author of Fearless Fundraising for Nonprofit Boards. Dave is active in the Association of Fundraising Professionals Indiana chapter and has served as past president and vice-president of programs.
