Promoting Positive Behavior: Understanding Bullying and Prevention Strategies

 

 

Course Description:

In this training, we explore the causes of bullying behavior.  Discuss steps to prevent and stop bullying. Learn to create a positive, authentic community that encourages and values communication, empathy, and support while teaching children healthier and more appropriate strategies for conflict resolution.  Discover concrete, applicable strategies, useful games, and helpful tools. Craft a plan to create a strong, bully-free program culture


Course Objectives:
1. Explain the concept of bullying, its cyclical nature and impact on learning and  development 
2.  Describe BOSTnet’s six-step process to break the bullying cycle and apply  strategies from that process in their community 
3. Demonstrate use of communication to build insight and empathy 
4. Examine case studies and determine best practices 
5. Identify concrete, practical strategies to be used at the participant’s program 
6. Design a work plan for the improvement of one programming area
