Population Health Forum

A Value-Based Approach to Orthopedic Care

 

Jefferson College of Population Health will host Christina Vannello, RN, BSN and David Janiec, MBA, both from the Rothman Institute, one of the largest orthopedic practices in the country, for its Forum, on December 6th from 8:30-9:30 am. 

This Forum presentation will focus on how the industry's current fee-for-service model presents a challenge in the transition to value-based care. Steps to prepare for participation in a value arrangement; ways to gauge success in alternative payment models; and how to effectively communication actionable information to providers, will also be covered in this session.


Meet the Presenters:

Christina Vannello, RN, BSN is the Director of Quality at Rothman Institute in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  She oversees all quality improvement initiatives internally, locally and nationally for the practice.  She is responsible for the episode of care management as it relates to alternative payment models, monitoring of outcomes and the patient navigation process.  Christina is on the Quality committee for the National Orthopedic Spine Alliance and is the co-leader for a national outcomes benchmarking group.


David Janiec, MBA is the Director of Contracting at Rothman Institute.  He is involved in all facets of payer contracting, with emphasis on assisting the 170 doctor practice in its transition from traditional fee-for-service financial models to value-based care models.  He is actively involved with payers--government, insurance and employer--engaging in Alternative Payment Model (APM) development and implementation.  His team is responsible for performance measurement of the practice’s activity pertaining to all APMs and meets with clinical staff to communicate all current program guidelines and financial performance data.
