The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Ohio Reach network invite you to join us on Thursday, October 12, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio, for the 2017 Fostering Pathways to Success conference. This dynamic one-day conference will offer meaningful learning and networking opportunities for young adults ages 14 to 21 who are or were formerly in foster care. Workshops also will be offered for campus liaisons, college access professionals, workforce program professionals, foster parents and caseworkers. CEU's are pending for adult workshops. This conference is designed to help improve social, educational and employment outcomes for young people in foster care.
This year’s luncheon keynote speaker will be Inspirational Speaker, children's advocate, former foster youth, and professional model Melissa Roshan "MelRo" Potter. From the days of her tumultuous childhood spent in the foster care system, "MelRo" knew that she was meant for more than the abuse she faced, sometimes on a daily basis. She is involved with several international campaigns that benefit foster-children. From teaching workshops on Trauma Informed Care and Adverse Childhood Experiences, her "voice" has been seen on TED Talks, T.D Jakes Show, Havard.com and more.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Current and Former Foster Youth, Higher Education Professionals, Child Welfare Professionals, Technical School Professionals, Legal Professionals, Government Administrators, and Foster Youth Advocates.
