"Orthodontic Appliances 101"

2.0 CEUs

Thursday, October 19, 2017

5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

presented by

Dr. Lance Miller, DDS, MS

Course Objectives:

The Smiths, one of your favorite families, is on the schedule today for a six-month cleaning and checkup.  You eagerly enter the operatory and spend a few minutes catching up on how everyone is doing and hearing about their most recent family vacation.  Thirteen-year-old Maggie hops up in the chair, opens her mouth, and shows you the appliance the orthodontist delivered last week.  It appears Maggie is adjusting well, but Mrs. Smith has some questions about what the orthodontic appliance is actually doing.  While you trust the orthodontist, the appliance does slightly resemble a medieval torture device and three questions immediately come to mind: “What is that thing?  What is it doing?  And how am I going to clean around it?!?”

Join Dr. Lance Miller of Keene Orthodontic Specialists for a high-energy presentation on October 19, 2017, covering everything you need to know about commonly-used orthodontic appliances.  Dr. Miller has a passion for education and has spoken to many groups, including twice before to the NHDHA.  Bring any and all questions you have and we will cover as much material as we can!  You will gain a better understanding of what the orthodontist is thinking and be empowered to communicate more effectively with your patients.  Dr. Miller has an engaging and enthusiastic lecture style and you will leave with useful handouts for each appliance discussed.

Join us and learn more about:

-The biological basis for tooth movement

-Indications for the use of various orthodontic appliances

-How orthodontic appliances work to correct malocclusions

-Instructions for patients, parents, and the entire dental team

-Common problems with orthodontic appliances and their solutions

-How to clean orthodontic appliances at home and in the dental office
