In this session, Gilbert's President, Dave Ljung and Bobbie Hales, Director of the Firm's Nonprofit & Association Team will discuss the changes affecting nonprofit financial reporting and provide in-depth implementation guidance. This presentation will help you evaluate how the reporting standard will impact your organization's financial reporting and provide you with tools to implement the changes. 

Session B ONLY - 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 
In this roundtable discussion, Senior Tax Manager Amanda Williams and our management team will dive deep into The Top 5 Hot Tax Topics affecting nonprofits today such as:

  • The IRS' current focus areas for audits and their audit plans for the near future. 
  • The current reasons for denial or revocation of exempt status.
  • What constitutes an employee vs. independent contractor.  What withholding requirements are there for contractors and potentially for foreign contractors?
  • Unrelated business income tax  with specific focus on two areas of focus by IRS: UBI internet complications and dual use of facilities.
  • Private inurement and private benefit issues of concern which could jeopardize exempt status. 
  • Attorney General compliance with emphasis on poker nights and rules concerning raffles.
