Refugee Healthcare in Our Community

The Global Health Residency Tracks of Christiana Care Health System , in partnership with the Delaware Academy of Medicine & Delaware Public Health Association, are pleased to invite you to this month's global health talk.

  • What is a refugee?
  • How do they get here?
  • What do they do when they get here?
  • What populations are being resettled?
  • What is RHP? (Refugee Health Partners)
  • What services do they provide?
  • How can you get involved?

Our speakers will be:

Elizabeth "Liz" Joyce is a third year resident at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and a Third-Year Liaison for RHP. She is also an officer for Philadelphia’s Physician for Human Rights Clinic which performs medical evaluations for asylum seekers. She is interested in language access and women’s health, and has a wonderful cat named George.

Jarett Beaudoin is a third year resident at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and a Third-Year Liaison for RHP. Prior to medical school he worked as a Medical Case Manager at the Nationalities Service Center, Philadelphia’s largest refugee resettlement agency. He is interested in health services research, global health, and has recently learned how to make cold brew coffee.

The main event will be held in the Back Auditorium of the Ammon Education Center at Christiana Hospital AND will be broadcast to Room 2 in the Brandywine Conference Center at Wilmington Hospital.

The CCHS Global Health Curriculum is an interdepartmental collaboration, supporting the Global Health Tracks in the Depts. of Medicine and Family Medicine, and the Med-Peds Residency, with the support of the Delaware Academy of Medicine, Delaware Public Health Association, and Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

There is no charge to attend this event, but registration is required. Food and Refreshments will be served.
