2017 Rutgers IC CAE Colloquium:

The Impact of Social Media on Crime, Terrorism and National Security Activities

The Rutgers IC CAE, The Rutgers Police Institute, and the Brennan Center for Justice will co-host a moderated discussion between approximately 15 law enforcement, national security, and privacy/civil liberty experts. The expert panel will explore how social media has changed the way criminals, terrorist groups and foreign intelligence agencies operate, and the challenges confronting law enforcement agencies and counter-terrorism officials seeking to develop tools and processes to respond to this evolving behavior. The panel will also explore the concerns of privacy/civil liberties advocates and those in private industry as government officials consider how to "monitor" social media platforms.

The colloquium will be observed live by Rutgers students.  ABC News will broadcast the event for a wider audience over multiple Internet and social media platforms.

Registration is required. You must be a Rutgers student or recent alumnus/alumna to attend the live event. Registration and breakfast will begin at 10:00AM. The formal program begins at 10:30AM.
