Verifying Interoperability for NATO Federated Mission Networking
NCOIC’s next interoperability discussion will spotlight the new Interoperability Verification Initiative and how it will be developed in conjunction with NATO Allied Command Transformation to help ensure interoperability in the development of the NATO Federated Mission Networking (FMN) capability.
The Interoperability Verification Initiative (IVI) represents an exciting collaboration between NCOIC and NATO. The NCOIC team is currently focused on the first step in this project – the framework it will use for examining and confirming interoperability in the Coalition Interoperability Assessment & Validation Test Environment.
Among the September 13 discussion topics will be:
The need for interoperability testing
Benefits to nations, vendors, procurement officers and integrators
Multi-phase IV implementation approach
How the IV process works
FMN requirements and attributes for verification
Possible test cases and scenarios
You’ll also hear about the re-vamped NCOIC membership levels – and a new category that will enable member-companies to take part in the development and testing of the IV framework.
There will be a virtual one-hour briefing at 9 a.m. (ET) on NCOIC membership
and a short overview of the IV framework, its use in the NATO operational test environment
and how to become involved in the project.
The afternoon session begins at 2 p.m. with a meeting of the NCOIC Advisory Council; its members are senior government leaders and strategists with expertise in global interoperability. This will be followed by presentations and discussions on interoperability verification. The event will end with a networking reception and a continuing exchange of ideas by the leaders from both public and private sectors.
