LGBTQ-Inclusive Sex Ed Training for Educators 

Maine Family Planning is collaborating with Out Maine to ensure that sex education is inclusive and affirming of LGBTQ identities. Join us for this all-day training to learn about the needs and concerns of LGBTQ youth and to learn strategies for making your program more inclusive!

During the training, participants will:
  • define key terms related to sexual orientation and gender identity
  • differentiate and identify the relationship between sexual orientation and gender identity
  • describe the realities of youth who identify as LGBTQ 
  • identify and practice using LGBTQ affirming language
  • identify at least three concrete steps to make sexuality education programs inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities
  • identify resources and strategies for making school settings safe places for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity

Who should attend? 

Maine health educators and youth-serving professionals committed to providing comprehensive sex education that addresses the needs of LGBTQ youth.

The training will take place from 8:30am-3:00pm on Wednesday, Sept. 20th at Kaplan University in Augusta.
