Silk Scarf Dyeing with Monique Michaels
In this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn the basics of bundle dyeing with natural materials. You'll work with natural dyes including local, everyday dyestuffs like onion skins, McArdle's past bloom flowers, and sourced materials like quebracho, madder root and logwood.
Participants will also learn how to choose and prepare textiles for dyeing, how the process of bundle dyeing extracts color from natural materials, and how to fix color to cloth. You'll look at Monique's collection of swatches for color inspiration and participants will use the techniques learned in this workshop to create a bundle dyed silk scarf.
This workshop can get messy so wear clothes you don't mind getting dye on!
