IBA-University 2017 Registration Now Open  

IBA-University returns to Normal in 2017 as Illinois State University plays host to this one-day student conference sponsored by the Illinois Broadcasters Association and the IBAcadmics Committee.  Registration can be complete on-line unti Friday, September 30th or by registering with your faculty member.  Payment must be made in advance or by check or credit card at the door (add a $5 fee to all at door payments).  Cash will not be accepted at the door.  Payment can be mailed in advance for all registrations to:  IBA, 200 Missouri Ave, Carterville, IL  62918.

Registration Deadline is Friday, September 30th.

Schools that wish to register a group of students and submit payment in advance, please use the group registration form available by request to:  dgray@ilba.org or by calling 618-985-5555.

 

9:30 am     Job Fair/Student Station Showcase & Tours

Job Fair:  9:00 to 10:30 am  

Stations from throughout Illinois wil be on hand to talk with students about job openings for graduating seniors and internship possibilities for juniors.  A complete list of stations will be published in advance of the IBA-U Job Fair.

ISU Station Tours: Want to check out another student broadcast station?  Take a quick tour of ISU stations.

Station Roundtable: Share ideas with other student broadcasters during this roundtable discussion.

12:00 am - 1:30 pm Awards Luncheon 

Finalists for the IBA Student Silver Dome Awards Competition will want to attend this awards luncheon.  Winners will be announced immediately following the buffet luncheon.  A complete lis of finalists is available at:

Panel Sessions:  11:00 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm

Radio, Television, and Digital professionals will assemble for panel discussions and presentations on various broadcasting topics.  Students may select from several sessions during each hour time slot beginning at 1 pm. Times/sessions will be updated prior to event.

1:00 pm - Broadcast News:  Panelists include Dawn Sterling, News Anchor, WAND-TV; Chuck Collins, Chief Meteorologist, WEEK.  Panel Moderated by Greg Powers.

1:00 pm - Social Media & Digital Marketing: 

2:00 pm - Careers in Media Sales & Promotions:  Keith Palmgreen, VP Sales, Radio Bloomington; Kate Burcham, GSM, Great Plains Media; and Danielle Outlaw, VP Sales, Neuhoff Media.  Moderated by Joe Blaney, ISU.

2:00 pm -  Women in Media:  Panelists include Helen Dobbyn, Multi Media Producer, Illinois Farm Bureau; Colleen Reynolds, Reporter, WGLT; Kelly Lambert, ESPN, Moderated by Deborah Antoine, Lincoln College.

2:00 pm - Sports Play-by-Play:  Joe Brand, Kane County Cougars; Craig Fata, International Basketball Federation; and Greg Halbleib, Normal Cornbelters/WJNC.   Moderated by Steve Suess
