Target Audience/Prerequisites
This course is intended for the health care professional with little to no experience in conducting a TB contact investigation.  Participants must complete the CDC Self Study Modules 1-5 & 6-9 and present a  Certificate of Completion prior to the first session.

Program Description
The goal of this course is to provide an introductory training experience covering basic elements, knowledge and skills essential for the TB contact investigator.

Conference Objectives

Upon course completion, participants will be able to explain the purpose of a TB contact investigation; describe core concepts and skills that are required to conduct a TB contact investigation; determine when to initiate a TB contact investigation; describe the systematic approach to conducting a TB contact investigation; describe how to build rapport; list at least six effective communication skills; describe assertive; passive; and aggressive behavior; describe four different types of interview questions; and list questioning pitfalls to avoid.

Format

The format for this course will be web-based, live lecture presentations with group discussions, case  sharing, and skill building exercises. There will be ample time for questions and answers during the group discussions.

Hardware / Software / Materials

To access and view this training event, you will need a computer with internet access and a phone line (preferably with a speaker or teleconferencing capabilities) or a computer with two-way audio. It is recommended that you check your system for compatibility and connectivity prior to the event.  Instructions to test your system will be sent with confirmation of participation.
