Why Tax Matters and the Forward Interest Rate View

The evening will include presentations on the following two topics:

1) “Tax: Behind the Headlines, Books and Forms” - A close look at why tax matters for Australia and all Australians.

2)  Interest Outlook 

Steve Southon (Chief Tax Officer, National Australia Bank)  

Steve has been NAB's Chief Tax Officer since March 2013.  He has more than 23 years' experience in taxation across many business sectors ranging from small business to international banking.  

Steve holds Bachelor degrees in both Financial Administration and Law, Masters degrees in both Taxation and Law and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Steve is also a member of the Advisory Panel of the Board of Taxation.

Scott Neilson

Scott has worked in the Financial  Markets since 1986 covering various rolls both on and offshore in the NAB. The bulk of those years was spent on the Foreign Exchange Trading desk operating on behalf of the NAB. In 2012 after spending the previous 5 years being Chief Dealer and Managing the Spot Foreign Exchange Trading Team, Scott moved to Armidale from Sydney with his family for a change of lifestyle and accepted a role in the Business Markets Division servicing the Regional Business and Agri Teams. The role looks at helping to provide solutions for balance sheet exposures to Interest Rates, Foreign Exchange and Commodities.
