The Lighthouse Literary Guild at Salisbury University's Center for Extended & Lifelong Learning is hosting a one-day writing retreat with Pat Valdata, award winning author and poet, October 21 from 9 am to 3 pm.
Retreat participants will use a mix of discussions and writing exercises to help generate ideas for beginning a novel or memoir. The day's work will include writing as a practice, developing characters, and producing a first chapter.
Early bird registration $80, light breakfast and lunch are included. The retreat takes place at the University House, 1116 Camden Ave. Participants should bring plenty of paper and pens!
Pat Valdata is an award-winning novelist and poet with an MFA in fiction writing from Goddard College. Her books include two novels, Crosswind and The Other Sister (2008 Árpad Academy gold medalist), and two poetry books, Where No Man Can Touch (2015 Donald Justice Poetry Prize) and Inherent Vice.
Pat lives in Crisfield, Maryland. She is an adjunct professor who teaches creative writing online for the University of Maryland University College.
