Directions and Parking: Public transit and carpool recommended. The Embarcadero BART and Muni stop are right outside this office location. Parking is limited (if garage not full). When you arrive at the building, check in with security in the lobby. Make your way to the 5thfloor reception.

Employee Training - Getting It Right Every Time 

The help desk is often the place careers begin in IT – hiring college grads or internal transfers with some technical knowledge. At Synopsys, we take this a step farther and partner with a local community college occupational training organization, and have 5 interns working with us all year long. Students may stay for as little as 2 quarters or as much as 2 years, so getting them up to speed quickly without diminishing overall team productivity is very important. Learn how our team developed a dynamic and interactive training site using SharePoint to create and manage learning guides and other modules. Our approach ensures that every help desk team member is a real-time instructor, training new support admins while also increasing individual and collective available knowledge and expertise.

About Our Speaker 

Terri Oropeza has been in IT Support since 1985 - first as the owner of a pioneer desktop publishing company and for the last 18 years at Synopsys. She has been the Synopsys IT Global Solutions Center (aka helpdesk) manager since October 2000. She transformed the traditional Help Desk into a full service Solutions Center - providing 24 x 5 support using resources in the US , India and Europe. She is skilled in working with diverse global teams from customers to upper management to individual contributors. She has had many different roles in IT including Project Manager, Business Analyst, Account Manager and Business Systems Administrator. She is highly skilled at team inclusion, employee retention and mentoring and cross-team effectiveness. Terri has been an HDI member since 2000 and was a local chapter officer for many years.
