Ideas in Action 2017/18:

Interpreting Your Property Tax Bill

A BUSINESS NETWORKING EVENT

Whether you rent or own, property taxes are likely your single largest state/local tax liability.  With property tax bills payable in September, it's a great time to join the Taxpayers Association of Central Iowa to review your own (or your landlord's) tax bill, and meet central Iowa leaders with whom your tax dollars are entrusted.

Learn from Polk County Treasurer Mary Maloney how to look up your own property tax bill on your mobile device, and how to determine which local governments receive which share of the property taxes you pay.

Network with dynamic local leaders to learn how six different entities decide how much to tax, and what they use the dollars to accomplish.

Featured leaders:

Rob Denson, President, Des Moines Area Community College;

Thomas Harper, CFO, Des Moines Public Schools;

Karl Vilums, CFO, Broadlawns Medical Center;

Mary Maloney, Polk County Treasurer;

Tim Moerman, Waukee City Manager; and

Elizabeth Presutti, CEO, Des Moines Area Regional Transit.

**Light refreshments and 2 drink tickets will be provided for each guest
