Obstetrics and Gynecology - Practicing in a Resource-Poor Environment and Tools for Success

The Global Health Residency Tracks of Christiana Care Health System , in partnership with the Delaware Academy of Medicine & Delaware Public Health Association, are pleased to invite you to this month's global health talk.

Siri Holton, MD, will be discussing the Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP) and how you can apply to be volunteer. Dr. Holton will discuss the challenges associated with practicing OB/GYN in a resource poor environment and tools for success. She will review interesting surgical cases with pictures (be prepared!).

Siri Holton is a second year obstetrics and gynecology resident at CCHS. Siri graduated with a BS from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH, and returned to her home state of Minnesota to attend the University of Minnesota Medical School - Twin Cities. Her interest in global health began in undergraduate studies with a study abroad experience in Lesotho and continued into medical school, where she spent time in Uganda volunteering at a rural clinic and educating village health care workers. She hopes to incorporate international medicine in resource-poor countries as part of her general OB/GYN practice.

The main event will be held in room 14 of the Ammon Education Center at Christiana Hospital AND will be broadcast to Room 2 in the Brandywine Conference Center at Wilmington Hospital.

The CCHS Global Health Curriculum is an interdepartmental collaboration, supporting the Global Health Tracks in the Depts. of Medicine and Family Medicine, and the Med-Peds Residency, with the support of the Delaware Academy of Medicine, Delaware Public Health Association, and Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

There is no charge to attend this event, but registration is required. Food and Refreshments will be served.
