Understanding Financial Statements

Sept. 28th - Marion Public Library

The language of business is in numbers, dollars and cents.  The story of any business is contained in its financial statements.  If trying to read financial statements seems like trying to read a foreign language, then this workshop is for you.  We will explain the concepts and formats of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows as well as how they interact.  The workshop will enable you to interpret and analyze the performance of a company based upon these three components of the financial statements as well as identifying issues that the company should be addressing.

This no cost SCORE workshop will explain what information is contained in the three basic financial statements, and how they are used to manage the success for your business.  This workshop is NOT an accounting class, but rather an overview of some important management tools and knowledge.

What we’ll cover:

  • Definition of three financial statements
  • Why business owners need to understand their numbers
  • What financial data belongs in each statement
  • How the three statements are inter-related
  • How to use the numbers to spot problems

Not to be missed if you want  to be successful.  You get this right.....You Win.

This is an overall look at financial statements in a small business, from a highly experienced business expert.  There will be plenty of time for questions from the attendees.
