Professional Development Seminar @ UT Austin 

In this session, GSBS students at Science Park will have the opportunity to learn about the academic job search from two faculty members at The University of Texas at Austin, College of Natural Sciences. This seminar will be focused on the research talk/chalk talk/interview portion of the academic job search.

David Taylor, Ph.D., assistant professor, Molecular Biosciences, was hired in 2016, and will share from his recent experience on the academic job market.  Nancy Moran, Ph.D., professor, Integrative Biology, will provide advice from the point of view of the hiring committee. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, so come with questions for these faculty members. 

     Here is direction for parking and for walking to the location for the professional development seminar:

• When students arrive on campus next Monday, September 18, I would recommend that they park in the closest parking garage at 27th Street and Speedway: http://www.utexas.edu/parking/parking/garages/swg.php.  Just pull a parking ticket when they enter the garage.
• Once they exit the garage, please walk along the Speedway until they reach the 24th Street and Speedway intersection.  Please look for a huge art installation (canoe-shaped): http://www.dailytexanonline.com/2015/01/22/new-50-foot-tall-sculpture-creates-waves-on-campus.  The NHB is right adjacent to this huge art installation.
