'All Saints' Screening & Conversation

 

The Purchase College Alumni Association invites you to an exclusive screening of alumnus Steve Gomer’s new film, All Saints, followed by conversation with the director.

All Saints is based on the inspiring true story of salesman-turned-pastor Michael Spurlock, the tiny church he was ordered to shut down, and a group of refugees from Southeast Asia. Together, they risked everything to plant seeds for a future that might just save them all.

Steve Gomer ’75 (director) won the prestigious Filmaker’s Trophy at the 1993 Sundance Festival for his “singular directorial style and original production” of Fly By Night, one of the first films to deal with the burgeoning rap world. 

Steve’s debut as a feature director was Sweet Lorraine. An evocative comedy set in a fading Catskills summer resort, it won the Sakura Prize at the Tokyo Film Festival. It featured Maureen Stapleton, Evan Handler, Giancarlo Esposito and Todd Graff and was the debut of Edie Falco. He also wrote, produced and directed the documentary film, Joe Chaikin, Going On, about the groundbreaking avant-garde theater director. In addition, Steve directed Sunset Park for Jersey Films and Columbia Pictures. His dramatic television work includes numerous episodes of Blue Bloods, The Unit, Joan of Arcadia, Ally McBeal,The Guardian, Huff, Jericho and Private Practice. Steve was the directing show runner on Heartland for TNT.For five years, Steve was a visiting instructor teaching acting and directing at Princeton University. He has directed plays at The Circle Repertory Company, The Vineyard Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, The Public Theater, The American Center in Paris and at Israel’s Habimah. His most recent project is the feature film, All Saints, for Sony Pictures.
