Art in the City

Join Art in the City with special guest Ruth Fine. Ms. Fine is a native of Philadelphia and a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) and the University of Pennsylvania.
A painter/printmaker by training, she started her National Gallery career as Lessing J. Rosenwald’s curator at Alverthorpe Gallery, Jenkintown PA, and oversaw the transfer of his collection to the National Gallery of Art and the Library of Congress in 1980. In Washington she organized exhibitions of the work of Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Georgia O’Keeffe,and John Marin, among others, and developed the Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Fifty Works for Fifty States national gifts distribution project.
Back in Philadelphia, she curated the 2015 exhibition: Procession:The Art of Norman Lewis at PAFA and the Martin Puyear prints retrospective now at The Print Center. Ms. Fine is Chair of the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation Board, a member of the Board of the Fabric Workshop and Museum, and of the Contemporary Committee at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
