Now in its 23rd year, National Public Lands Day celebrates service and recreation on public lands while education volunteers about the impacts of human activity on our parks.
Prince William County Parks & Recreation is partnering with REI, Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition, MORE and the Port Potomac HOA to celebrate NPLD with a trails work day event to rejuvenate a segment of Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail along Powells Creek.
Our work plan will consist of trail blazing, trimming over-growth, enhancing the trail surface and mounting new signage. Please come ready to work with closed toed shoes, gloves, eye protection (sunglasses ok), sunscreen and/or insect protection as needed. We suggest you also pack enough water/snacks to get you through a few hours of physical work.
