Bridges out of Poverty Workshop

Led by Author: Terie Dreussi-Smith

8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

October 23, 2017

This workshop will explain why poverty is more effectively defined as “the extent to which anindividual does without resources”, rather than being viewed only as an economic situation. Resources include money, education, and the knowledge of hidden rules of economic class. Terie will share strategies that lead to improved employee retention and a greater understanding of the challenges that your employees may be facing.

Learn what ‘working poor’ means in southwest Ohio; learn skills to remove barriers and identify gaps in community resources. After lunch you are invited to participate in a roundtable discussion about implementation of some of the ideas discussed during the morning workshop.

This training is based on the work of Dr. Ruby Payne and Bridges out of Poverty written by Philip DeVol, Ruby Payne, PhD and Terie Dreussi-Smith.

Cost:  $25* (Includes book, refreshments and lunch).  Please inform us of any special dietary needs before October 17th.

*SELF has received special funding through an Ohio Healthier Buckeye grant to offer this workshop to professionals in Butler County.
