Make Your Own Holiday Centerpiece

Decorate your holiday table with a lush ring of boxwood accented with autumn chrysanthemums, berries, seasonal fruits, vegetables, nuts and preserved leaves.

Working in a base of wet floral foam attached to a plastic tray, we will combine boxwood, flowers and leaves with vegetables, fruits, nuts and berries to create a striking harvest centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table. After Thanksgiving, remove the fall accents and add freshly cut evergreens, pine cones and seasonal accents to convert your table ring to a beautiful, long lasting centerpiece for the Winter Holidays! Kept watered, fresh boxwood will last many weeks in an arrangement.

The finished wreath measures 15” across. The center of the ring will hold a grouping of slender candlesticks, a footed compote or pillar candle. All materials provided by the instructor. Please bring floral scissors to class.

Betsy Williams teaches, lectures and writes about living with herbs and flowers. A life long gardener, herb grower and cook, Betsy trained as a florist in Boston and England. She combines her floral, gardening and cooking skills with an extensive knowledge of history, plant lore and seasonal celebrations. An entertaining lecturer, she weaves stories and legends throughout her informative talks and demonstrations.

She has presented at Monticello, The American Horticultural Society's Youth Symposium, the Pennsylvania Lavender Festival and International Herb Association as well as Colonial Williamsburg, the Ozark Folk Center and the New England, Rhode Island and Cincinnati Flower Shows.
