Duty to Report: Responding to Child Care Welfare Concerns

Wednesday January 31, 2018       Time 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm       2 hours

Fee: $25.00 (Special Fee)     FCC Fee: $20.00 (Promo Code)

Child abuse is one of the most serious problems facing our society. Abused children suffer and the damage lasts a lifetime. Even worse, it can extend to future generations as patterns of abuse and neglect repeat themselves. That's why it's so important to know the signs of abuse and neglect and to take the right action when we see them. Come and learn what steps we can take to keep children safe.

  • Learn how to respond to child welfare concerns.
  • Explore indicators of different types of abuse and harm experienced by children.
  • Understand how to respond when a child or youth makes a disclosure.
  • Determine how and when to report welfare concerns.

*Suitable for parents, students, adult instructors/administrators, novice, intermediate and experienced early learning child care professionals working with children of any age from infant/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.

Presenters: Deborah Bowser and Leigh Green. Deborah has been a front line Child Protection Social Worker for the Ministry of Children and Family Development for the past 12 years, and has worked on The Vancouver North Intake Team for the past 10 years.
