Speaker - Donna Scaffidi, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, Firm Director
It's hard enough to keep up to date on income tax changes. How do you find out about changes in state sales and use tax, or how they apply to specific situations you encounter? This issue is something that affects most businesses and is often overlooked. Here is your chance to learn more about the nuances of this often misunderstood tax.
Donna Scaffidi, Firm Director, joined Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP in 2008. She brought with her experience from a national accounting firm and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, working exclusively with state and local taxes. Additionally, Donna has provided tax controversy and consulting services to a Wisconsin Fortune 100 company. She has been working with state and local taxes since 1987, and has extensive experience with multistate corporation income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, corporate tax restructuring strategies, and business credits and incentives.

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISING NEWS - MATCHING PLEDGE!
As many of you are aware, one of the programs our chapter offers are scholarships for both 4-year and 2-year accounting and finance degree candidates. For more information on eligibility criteria and timing of the scholarship applications, please see our website at www.milwaukeeafwa.org/scholarship.
One of our members has very generously agreed to match donations that are made to our scholarship fund through December 15, 2017. She will be matching individual donations up to $250, with a maximum donation of $5,000. It isn't very often that we receive an offer like this to benefit our scholarship fund, so please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our scholarship fund to take advantage of this match!
Donations can be made at the meetings, or you can mail a check payable to "Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance Scholarship Fund". If you would like to mail a check, please contact treasurer@milwaukeeafwa.org for a mailing address.
