Update on the Illinois Pollution Control Board

Illinois Pollution Control Board

The A&WMA Lake Michigan States Section and the Union League Club Environmental Committee are pleased to invite you to join us on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 for a presentation by Katie Papadimitriu, Chair of the Illinois Pollution Control Board.  Ms. Papadimitriu will provide an overview of the role and process of the Board as it pertains to rule making, permitting and enforcement.  She will also update us on her vision for the Board and issues they are currently addressing. 

Chairman Papadimitriu was appointed by Governor Bruce Rauner in January 2017. She brings government and private sector experience in highly regulated industries to the Board, focusing on state and federal regulatory policies with an emphasis on deregulated energy markets and the convergence of energy and the environment. Her wide-ranging private sector experience includes: providing strategic guidance and execution to data analytics firms in the clean energy sector; developing corporate regulatory and legislative strategies; and leading business development and corporate strategy.

She also has held positions with the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Illinois Pollution Control Board, and other Illinois state agencies.

Katie has an A.B. in Political Science from the University of Chicago, where she graduated with honors, and an M.S. from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

COST:  The cost to attend for non-Union League Club members is $40 per person which includes breakfast and any presentation handouts.  Students are invited to join us at a special price of $20 per person.

RSVP:  Due to limited seating and our arrangement with the Union League Club, advance registration is required to guarantee availability. Reservations and payment can be made by clicking the reservation button below.  Reservations may be cancelled for a full refund only if we are notified 48 hours in advance of the event. Union League Club members should contact ULC to make their reservations.

CREDIT:  Attendees are eligible to receive Continuing Legal Education (CLE) or Professional Development Hours (PDH) credit.

A limited number of scholarships are available for anyone who requires CLE credit to maintain professional registration such as attorneys, professional engineers and professional geologists and who could not otherwise afford to attend this conference.
