FALL 2017
COSMIC SPACE LAB SERIES
10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/14, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12
(descriptions are subject to change without notice)
10/3/17 3-2-1 Blast-Off! Let the Scientific Method guide the launch of our CKS-2017 rockets. Take home a mini-experiment of which both Sir Isaac Newton and Neil Armstrong would approve.
10/10/17 Total Eclipse of the Lab - I love how the earth rotates. It really makes my day! ;) We were all excited by the solar eclipse. Do some activities to help understand what happens when the moon photobombs the sun.
10/17/17 Space Vacuum - I promise, there are no chores in this lab! Explore the virtual absence of atmosphere found in outer space. Create a partial vacuum and see how various objects behave under negative air pressure.
10/24/17 Hey there, What’s your Sign? - Learn about stars, light projection, and reflection. Create a dazzling constellation kaleidoscope to take home.
10/31/17 Space-Time Vortex - Is Earth in a vortex of space and time? Einstein certainly had a theory! We won’t get lost in the spooky black holes of outer space, but we’ll have fun making some with our giant air vortex generator!
11/14/17 Anti-Gravity Lab - Discover how gravity changes in outer space. Do some fun anti-gravity experiments that will challenge and amaze you!
11/28/17 Spin Out Science - Hang onto your space suit and learn about centripetal forces. Make a spin art design to take home. You’ll be orbiting like a satellite by the end of this lab!
12/5/17 Comets and Craters - Learn about forces of impact as they relate to mass and energy in our “moon sand” pit. You’ll have a heavenly experience creating craters with our laboratory “asteroids” and “meteoroids”.
12/12/17 The Big Stretch - Journey into the world of polymers and our ever-expanding universe as you make some stretchy, sparkly galaxy slime to take home.
