Coastal Heritage Society and Savannah Yoga Center will host a historic indigo dyeing lesson, yoga retreat and museum tour on Sunday, November 19th from 9 am to 2 pm at Pin Point Heritage Museum, 9924 Pin Point Ave., Savannah, GA 31406. The event will focus on our region’s historic connection indigo, as the crops once flourished on Georgia’s Sea Islands during the 18th Century.
Event registrants can participate in a two-part, hands-on lesson and see the process of creating indigo dye from the plant itself. Guests will receive a silk scarf to dye and may bring one item of their own to dye made of cotton, silk, wool or rayon. In between each lesson will be a yoga session led by Kelley Boyd from the Savannah Yoga Center, a catered lunch with a complimentary mimosa and a historic site tour with residents from the Pin Point community.
This unique experience is open to a small group of interested attendees for $175 per person. Early bird tickets are available until November 5th for $145 per person. Pre-registration is required. All participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat. Proceeds for this event will help offset the costs of clean up and repairs after strong winds and flooding during Hurricane Irma.
