International Ride Operator Certification

Lights! Camera! iROC!

IRT, LLC will provide the best in ride operations training to increase operator safety awareness, education and certification in the amusement industry.

We are excited to be hosted again by the famous Knott’s Berry Farm in sunny Buena Park, California:

 February 6-9, 2018.

  • Day 1 (Feb 6) is for New iROC Students (Returning students are welcomed Day 1 but not required)
  • Day 2 – 4 (Feb 7-9) is for all Returning iROC Students

iROC 2018:

Learn how to ensure the ride operators are taught the safety practices every ride operator must know.

Meet with other operations professionals to discuss and find solutions to industry issues such as:

1. Ensuring operators know how to effectively communicate with riders.
2. Learning the methodical process at rides to ensure consistency and efficiencies to increase rider through put.
3. Application of the ADA act, and teaching ride operators how to communicate with our guests with disabilities.

Our education program foundation consists of the 10 Critical Components for a ride operator for each ride cycle. And foremost, how to teach these components so the successful results are evident in the field.

The method of teaching to ensure the trainee will be successful is the following methodology:

Learn IT! - We tell why the methodology has come about and what it is.
Link IT! - A way that the learner makes a connection on why the process exists.
Live IT! - The standard of performance on how the procedure must be done.

1) Professionalism
2) Engaging Riders
3) Rider Screening
4) Loading & Unloading
5) Area Access Control (gates)
6) Restraint Device Security Verification
7) Operator / Attendant Communication
8) Safe Zones
9) Pre-Dispatch Safety Checks (visual confirmation)
10) Preparedness

Although our educational program remains the same, the school is action packed with NEW teaching techniques and sessions.

The iROC program is taught:

  • Using actual (real life) ride operation videos (from different parks) to showcase operator issues.
  • By a team of industry experts from various amusement industry parks who share innovative ideas for teaching each component.
  • As a train the trainer program focusing on the 8 Great Keys to training Ride Operators. This has been enhanced for 2018.
  • With detailed Lesson Plans and a newly edited version of the Trainer Handbook that include unique ways to train and energize the team.

Attending the iROC school, you have an opportunity to enhance both your operational leadership and teaching skills. It is a great opportunity to share with other industry leaders experiences and building long-lasting industry friendships.

In addition, if you come a day early or stay a day later, there are opportunities to visit many other local theme parks within a short drive (Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal, Legoland, Seaworld, and Disneyland just to name a few.)

Register now and see you at Lights! Camera! iROC!
