The Internet of Everything - NEFLIN (1/16/18) 

Allowing physical devices to communicate with each other can enhance everything from sprinkler heads to insulin monitors. The cost of adding Internet connectivity to an object is falling rapidly, converging toward zero. Advanced connectivity of systems, services, and everyday objects will change the way we work and play. Our surroundings will be as smart as our things, predicting the individualized information and services that we desire as we approach. Wearable computing devices like the Apple Watch will become smaller, cheaper, and more capable. There is tremendous potential for such technologies to enhance the library experience for patrons. 

The discussion of this topic will range from humble beginnings in RFID to the newest innovations in smart connected products and predictive interaction.

Trainer: Mickey Boyd

Mickey Boyd has been a technology trainer in Florida for many years.  Library staff know him for his workshops on emerging technologies, information security, and managing public access to the Internet.
