This two-day training will focus on helping individuals learn to perform and maintain their employment. Topics will include a basic overview of a job start, including how to prepare for the first day of work and how to conduct a task analysis. We will explore systematic instruction and task analysis, with particular attention to fading support from the first day of work. The training will also include the use of natural supports, as well as important elements of successful long term support.

Teri Johnson, Consultant for the past 35 years. Teri's focus has been the development and support of quality employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Individualized technical assistance experience includes: identification of strengths and preferences to guide job development, designing tasks and environments to accommodate learning style; utilizing systematic instruction in teaching new and complex tasks; development of self-management strategies to increase and maintain independence; and troubleshooting performance issues including speed, accuracy and employability skills. In addition, Teri teaches in a certification program developed for Employment Consultants offered through Highline College, provides staff training in employment and residential settings in multiple states, and is a consultant/trainer with the Project SEARCH Training Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Aimee Nelson, Trillium Employment Services "Everyone can learn if we can figure out how to teach them" Marc Gold. Aimee has embraced this belief for over twenty years. During the past 18 years with Trillium, her primary focus has been discovering how people learn and utilizing best practice in systematic instruction. In addition, Aimee is Lead Instructor for the OELN Systematic Instruction course; a certified Right Response trainer; and a provider of Technical Assistance through the Washington Initiative for Supported Employment. Aimee also leads the Trillium School to Work team, building strong relationships with school districts, families and funding agencies. Aimee holds a degree in Psychology/Criminology and a minor in Human and Family Develompent.
Brandi Monts has a life-long personal connection to developmental disabilities, as well as over 16 years of work experience in the field. Her previous positions include residential services, supported employment, transition from school to work, teaching, and county government. Realizing her commitment to the disability field early in her education, Brandi earned a BA in Social Work form the University of Washington and later went on to obtain a Master in Public Administration, with a focus on Public Policy at The Evergreen State College. Brandi's interests and expertise includes agency organization, public policy and practice, community organizing, service systems collaboration, curriculum development and wrap around service coordination for people with significant support needs. Brandi has also taught English in Japan and is interested in multi-cultural service coordination and international disability issues.
With an employment consultant background in high school and adult service programs, Brandi has experience providing supports in a range of workplace settings and systems. Focusing on efficiency, independence and holistic supports, Brandi offers consultation, coaching and accommodation development in the following areas: helping individuals and their teams identify workplace settings and skills, systematic instruction, task design and analysis, resources for independence in the community, team organizing and coordination, service planning and implementation, family and residential communication and support development, assisting employers to develop customized accommodations, hiring processes, co-worker education, job description design and efficient work-flow systems.
