Respirable Crystalline Silica Awareness Course:
1-Hour
All employees that are involved in tasks that produce silica should receive training before being assigned work. This one-hour class will cover the basics of Silica and Respirable Crystalline Silica Dust encountered during construction activities.
The class will cover:
- Identifying the materials, products and tasks that can create silica hazards
- How the employer plans to control the dust (the silica exposure control plan)
- Respirable crystalline silica health risks
- The purpose of the medical surveillance program
- Proper personal protective equipment, and appropriate hygiene practices
- Key provisions of the OSHA regulation on respirable crystalline silica
- The identity of the competent person designated by the employer to implement the silica control plan and inspect the job site, materials and equipment
