Agenda

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. - Check-in, On-site Registration (if space permits), and Welcome

8:30 - 9:20 a.m. - Identification and Management of Common Consumer Plant Problems of Turf and Woody Ornamentals in Southern NC LandscapesNumerous diseases and insects affect ornamental landscape plants and lawns. Some are fairly benign and may cause unsightly leaf spots, but they will not significantly harm or kill the plant. Others may be very damaging and result in plant death.  In this presentation we will discuss common turf issues as well as some newly discovered emerging pests and pathogens of southern NC landscapes. These problems represent issues that are brought directly to the County Extension Horticulture Agent by clients or through the NCSU plant, disease and insect clinic.

Using too much or too little water can cost green industry businesses precious time and money. Participants will learn about water efficiency and uniformity, then complete a hands-on exercise to help them better calculate water use in the landscape - all of which can help landscape and irrigation contractors offer additional services and benefits to their customers.
