Shiva & Shakti: The Power of Transformation

Shiva, Transcendent Lord of Transformation, Ultimate Reality, and Master of Self, whose waxen heart led him to swallow poison to save the world, is counterpoised by Shakti, the Divine Feminine, whose energy brings his reality into manifestation. In this course Dr. Robert Svoboda, Chandra Easton and Scott Blossom will explore the transformative energy of Shiva and Shakti, Lord of Death and Lady of Life, in prose and poetry, story and song. In lectures they will discuss pratyahara and sadhana, and how we can cultivate calmness, coolness and balance in our lives. Scott will also lead a Shadow Yoga style practice on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Dr. Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. The author of more than a dozen books, he lived in India for more than a decade, after which he has continued to spend much of each year there and in other lands.

Chandra Easton is a teacher and translator of Tibetan Buddhism, focusing on the lineage of Machig Labdrön and Lama Tsultrim Allione. She has taught Buddhism and Yoga for 16 years and co-translated Sublime Dharma: A Compilation of Two Texts on the Great Perfection. She is currently on the Tara Mandala Bay Area coordinating committee, through which she teaches and organizes events in the Bay Area. Visit www.shunyatayoga.com and www.taramandalasf.org.

Scott Blossom is a Traditional Chinese Medical practitioner, Shadow Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Consultant. He has been studying yoga for over twenty years and teaching for thirteen. Chandra & Scott run Shadow Yoga programs in Berkeley and San Francisco.
